Friday, May 14, 1920.
Before Dr. Cole, P.M., and Mr. Hannah, J.P.

Proceedings were taken against two persons for allowing their cattle to wander on the streets. Herbert Whisson, of Lilydale, was charged by J. C. Winterbottom, secretary of Lilydale Shire, with allowing his 2 cows to wander in the township. W. T. Hill gave evidence that on 10th March he took charge of 2 wandering cows, which were claimed by, and signed for by Whisson.

This was the second offence, and a fine of 5/- a head, with 2/6 costs was imposed. Henry John Taylor was proceeded against for allowing cows to wander near 'Wandin. William Thomas Hill gave evidence that complaints had reached him from Wandin that cows were destroying gardens. He went out and got 19 of them, for which Mr. Taylor signed. A fine of 2/head, - with 5/- costs, was imposed.

On Monday, December 29th a married man, William James Thomas, 46 years of age, was discovered with his throat cut. He was given immediate attention and conveyed right away
to the Melbourne hospital, but despite treatment died on January 4th. Deceased was a fruitgrower and the cause of his suicide is not known.
